Boylike is a term to describe the phenomenon that, in an alternate universe, A Boy and his Blob has the amount of popularity and influence as Dark Souls, seeing some of its mechanics appear in many newer games, to people making derivative or a straight up clone of it. These games are called boylikes and many are indie or even fangames.

The reason for this is that we were talking about how there are some old games like A Boy and His Blob that are very unique but weren't massively influential to the point of everyone copying them, but could be.

Alternatively, boylike could refer to a genre of game that represents something of a boy's fantasy. These games typically star a boy, who may have a pet or encounter aliens. Some examples of these games in the “boylike genre” include:
